 In December 2008 I tested positive for a BRCA mutation which means I was given an 87% lifetime risk of developing breast cancer and a 40% risk of developing ovarian cancer.  I decided to undergo a risk- reducing double mastectomy and full hysterectomy with ovary removal in order to drop my risk of those cancers to less than 4%

One of my passions is the mastectomy tattoo days I run every October. This program provides free mastectomy tattoos to breast cancer survivors, previvors and thrivers. 

​I believe that knowledge is power and it has become my mission to help those who are dealing with cancer, or chronic illness. No one should feel alone!
